Question:

Is it bad to install a new deck without a wiring harness?

I have a 2002 Monte Carlo and I bought a 6 touch screen double din deck for it. I also bought a wiring harness (from OKorder because it was 15 bucks instead of 120) but it hasnt come yet. I'm very impatient, and I know that if I just splice all the wires I can install the deck without a wiring harness. Is there any downsides or risks to doing this?

Answer:

Not if you know what you are doing, and double check every thing. And you know a hot wire from a ground wire.
a wiring harness simplifies the installation. But it offers no advantages to performance or safety. Just make sure you don't cross the hot and ground wires, you'll be fine.
