Question:

Is it bad to microwave the frozen food plastic?

It is bad to microwave food in plastic because then you'd be melting and eating plastic. What about the frozen food plastic?

Answer:

If you put plastic in the microwave it will catch on fire.If it's the frozen dinners keep it in what it came in just put it on a pan in the OVEN!
If you buy frozen food covered with plastic the directions are on the cover and you must pierce the plastic or lift part of the plastic cover off to prevent steam build up. If you have the misfortune of melting the plastic cover you will also have over microwaved the food and it won't be much good either. Microwaves keep working after the machine has stopped which is why the directions will tell you how much time to wait until serving. Sometimes you think that 5 minutes is too long or 2 minutes is too short time for this method of cooking. All timings have been checked often for timings by the food processors and home economists employed by them. You also need to test your microwave power. Usually a cup of water will boil in 1 minute. If it does so quicker you will have to adjust your timing. The manufactur's instructions provide the recommended test method. Most folk really don't read the instructions. They don't take the classes offered on microwave cooking either.
If you're talking about a frozen dinner, with the plastic covering, you need to ventilate the plastic. If you didn't, the heat would have to where to escape and it could explode. As far as melting food in plastic (such as a Ziploc bag), the plastic could melt, and perhaps burn and start a fire. And that would not be good!
Microwaved food is bad for you for a number of reasons- Any processed food is immediately going to be bad for you due to its many preservatives. Whether they are anti-fungal agents, designed to increase a products life length or just a whole lot of salt, these chemicals can cause damage to your insides. There are also numerous theories involving the microwave as to its effects on foods health. There are claims that microwaving food can decrease vitamin and mineral effects, but I am skeptical. Truthfully, though there is a lot of stress over this sort of thing, anything is fine as long as you eat it in small amounts. Moderation is the key.
You should take out the plastic wrapper-those people above are right-they could explode! But,based on my experience,I would put it in a oven.(If you mean the frozen diners are pizzas etc)The result of the food is not as good if you put it in a microwave rather than an oven. A little tip:When I put my pizzas in my microwave,(I don't have an oven)the crust of the pizza will get stuck on the plate. So I yearn for an oven...T.T
