Question:

Is it better to leave a shallow wound open to dry out, or to cover it up?

My son has a nasty scratch on his hip bone that's about 4 inches long the width of a pencil, but it's pretty shallowIt barely bled at allBecause he scratched himself on an aluminum mailbox (while playing bball in the cul-de-sac), I rinsed it out with peroxide to kill any bacteria, but I'm thinking it's better to leave it open so it will scab just watch it for any sign of infectionI considered steri-strips, but the edges are too far apart.

Answer:

Cover it for a few days maybe about 4 and then let it breath to dry it out (: but while it's covered make a routine to put medication on it like to clean it or somethingThat happened to my friend too but on her knee now you can barely tell something happened :D oh and if it's that deep you might want to see a doctor cause that's really deep :O
