Answer:

I am studying to be a early years teacher, you have highlighted a common issue in this group of children, all the pupils are at different at levelsSo we try to cover the basics so no child is left behind but of course this can sometimes limit some other childrenThis is when good communication comes in, a good teacher should be able to cater to the group as a whole and individual children so my advice is to have a word with the teacher and explain what you have done with your child and you two can work together to formulate a daily activity that will be of more benefit to your little girl Lying about it will help no one, it might be more advanced reading or if your child needs a little extra time on another subject maybe the focus can be turned to that so your child gets the most balanced education possible.
Oh yeah, my daughter last year came home with an enormous amount of homework for that age, and the reading was unrealI was told that kindergarten today is what first grade was a couple of years agoI was nervous she was going to have problems with keeping up, but you'll be surprised they soak it upI think it's a lot of pressure for that age but with all this state testing I guess they figure they will prep them early1st grade doesn't get any betterMy daughter used to get 6 sheets of homework a week in kindergarten brought it home on Wednesday and had to be back on MondaySentences and the whole nine, She now in first grade just did her first book report tonight LOL
Cupcakes are easiest to makeYou get the cups at the grocery storeYou can use paper cups and a cupcake pan or you can get paper cups that come with aluminum foil holders and they work with just a cookie sheet Get a box of cake mixIt will make 24 cupcakesBoxed mixes usually need water, veggie oil, and one to three eggsJust mix them up in a big bowl and spoon the mixture into the cupsFill the cups about half way so you can see how much more to put inWhen you are done, all the cups will be about 2/3 fullWhen they bake they will expand and fill the cupsYou can get canned frosting, but I think that stuff is terribleIt's better to put a quarter pound (one stick) of butter (real butter) in a bowl and beat it with an electric beater while you add powdered sugar a little at a timeAfter a while it will start to look like frosting, and then you decide what color you want itIt's already white, and it only takes one drop of the food color to change it, so be carefulIf you want to you can divide the frosting into two or three or even four bowls so you can make them different colorsWant more? Whip up some more butter and sugar! If you want to make the very best treat, get a can of cocoa and follow the cake recipe on the labelThat recipe will make 40 cupcakes! And be sure to use the frosting recipe that comes with itIt is absolutely wonderful! But my favorite recipe is oatmeal cookiesGet Quaker Oats and the recipe is on the back of the boxYou can substitute everything in that recipe: use all white sugar instead of white and brown, use peanut butter instead of shortening, add flavors you think are nice, and so forthThe trick is before adding the oatmeal you whiz it in a blenderNobody will ever figure out what you did!
My kindergarten teacher liked to give us two big words each weekI remember being so overwhelmed by the concept of reading even the little words were hardIt took a lot of work on my teacher's part, but I became a great readerI am now 20 and have a very high reading level and also considered a speed readerMost teachers do not give their students something they think is too hardI think that in a world where other countries have higher IQ's than America due to rigid schooling, a little bit of a challenge is okJust keep encouraging your son to read and if he has any big problems talk to his teacherI love how you are helping your child (I read to my little ones every day) and I think that if your son eventually got the big word you and his teacher are doing a good job.
Kids these days are very advancedAs a writer, I have studied children's books and these days publishers expect them to be more advanced than they were years agoNot full of big words but definitely more big wordsEven in picture booksIt's actually a good idea these days to throw in big words with the little wordsKids get bored very easily these days and do like the challenge!
