Hi I am getting a new sofa..due to my small space apartment I am wondering will a sectional sofa be great for small space apartments? and also what tools will I need to put it together with, and is hard putting it together? Anyone with suggestions or comments will be great. Thanks
I'm thinking you should stick to folding chairs. Sectional sofa's don't usually need tools to they just slide together....
If you have a small apartment now, why are you getting a sectional? They are huge, and take up lots of space. I'd reconsider, and shop for something a little smaller.
Hi sweet33 Sectional sofas are not difficult to put together. I do suggest perhaps to save yourself some time and energy, that you sketch out the floor plan of your apt. Do a rough draft of where you think you will place the sofa set. Doing this will give you some valuable information. How many sofa placements options you have for a variety of arrangements. Some sectionals are not easy to work within the room, because of the left arm of right arm of the sofa, placement of the sofa and size of the room that will include doorways, pathways. Also make note of the height of the sofa(s) as much of today's furniture is over sized. With that said, also check the doorway measurements to your apt to be certain that upon delivery the set will be easily brought into the apt. :o) Happy Decorating
If you find a small scale sectional (look at Bassett's CU2 style), this can really maximize the space that you have without overwhelming it. I suggest choosing a color of fabric that will be close to your wall color so that it will lessen the heavy look. Bassett also has a Room Design feature that you can use that is very helpful. As for putting them together, the delivery men are very experienced at this. Otherwise it can be a BIT of a struggle when snugging into a small space, but not impossible. (No tools required) The biggest issue for a sectional is getting the corner piece through the door. Most will fit through a 36 door with no obstructions or tight turns. If you move a lot, you may want to consider a sofa 2 chairs though, as these pieces will fit almost any room anywhere you go, a sectional may limit you in the future.
