Question:

is it illegal to touch abandoned bulldozers?

me and my buddy were walking though a cleared path in the woods (we live in the southeastern US) and we saw these two bulldozer things. one still had some power but the tire was flat and the other didn't work at all and was rusted to hell. we hopped in and tried to start the good one but it just made sounds, it didn't actually start up. we also lowered the bulldozing part. he said it had been abandoned for years.

Answer:

It was technically trespassing and you could be liable for any damage you did. For example: If you lowered the blade on someone by accident, the owners of the machines would be sued and you would be a co-defendant. This is the reason I lower my dozer blade and padlock the controls and battery disconnect before leaving it unattended. There are just too many numbskulls out there who think nothing of messing with someone's stuff, just because they don't think anyone will catch them. You probably didn't see the camouflaged cameras that were taking your pictures when you came anywhere near the equipment.
Do not do it there is no reason too.
they still belong to someone. if they aren't yours, leave them alone.
