Question:

Is it more costly to heat with a boiler and radiators.?

We have relocated from FL and know nothing about the pros and cons of heating with radiators

Answer:

Radiant heat is not as efficient as convection heat if that's what you are asking. If you purchased a house that already has radiant heat I would just go with it. The change out to a regular furnace would not really have a pay off and as stated you will get the comfort of a humidifier built right in. The best way to save on heating bills would be to head back to Florida. I have visited Tampa and I have to say I would not mind living in the Tampa/Clear water area.
Boiler's, with radiant heat , are the most comfortable, source of warmth. Costly? Depends on fuel you are using, age of unit, Has it been serviced? Answers require questions for your satisfaction.
the only thing you need to know is that you don't get a/c from a radiator
