Question:

Is it possible to straighten bent cast aluminum?

I have Yamaha Raptor 700 ATV that I recently got and the subframe on it is bent / twisted pretty badLooks like the previous owner did a wheelie and went back onto the grab bar, which broke and twisted the aluminum subframe at the same timeI have had a sport bike before that had a twisted subframe before which I just tweaked straight with a pipeIt was aluminum but was square tubing, about 1quot; or so, this thing on the 4 wheeler is completely different, about 3quot; or so where it bolts up to the main frame and tapers bown to about an inch or so where the grab bar bolts up.Is there anyone on here that knows anything about this kind of stuff? I'm scared of cracking it if I try to do the same thing I tried with the one on the bike, and want to fix this one if at all possible because a new one costs $400 :S Any help, tips, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:

I wouldn't take a chance with using the same microwave againThe fire may have caused damage to the unit and may cause harmful leakage of the micro/radio waves used to heat up the food (depending on the year your model was made, it may use different type of waves)If it is an expensive model, I suggest that you take it to a certified repair shop, otherwise trash it and buy yourself a new one (new ones go for about $80 nowadays!)Your safety comes first.don't take chances.
hard to tell try the microwave with with nothing in it then try it with something easy then work your way up but never use tin foil!!
Might be, might not beYou'll just have to try itAnd why didn't you know better?
yeah it could be broken when i was younger i stuck a metal bowl in the microwave cause i didn't know any better and it brokei would suggest getting a different microwave i mean ur's caught on fire i don't know if i'd go using it again but you can do what you want just keep the fire extinguisher near by
It's possiblewe have a guy that fixes bent aluminum rims for usI wouldn't try it yourself cast is brittle and it might brakeThey use heat and it's a fairly long process
