I live alone in a 4 bedroom house since my wife took the kids and leftI want to save money by just heating my bedroom and not the empty onesThe registers are not adjustableI decided to take plastic grocery bags and fill them with crumpled newspaperThen I removed the register and shoved the bag tightly into the duct to block the air flowThis has worked well for a day or soAm I damaging the blower or furnace by doing this? Is it hazardous?

Use aluminum foil to cover the vents, I use it now on mineI would be a little nervous using plastic and paper.
