I'm tired of having to clean spilled food under the elements and if they are not thoroughly cleaned, the smoke alarm goes off when they're turned offI thought about solving this problem by putting aluminum foil on top of the stove elements so that I don't have to clean up such mishaps anymore.Has anyone else done this? Is it effective? More importantly, is it safe?
A paper clip across the battery terminals will discharge it in a hurryWear a glove cause the clip may get a little warm.

Another idea is to get another remote, program it to the tv that way you can control the tv alsoThey have UHF remotes that can work through walls.
If you line the trays with foil you make the elements work harder, which costs you money in the long runEasier to replace trays as neededI re-read your question after reading other answers, and No you cannot cook with foil on the burnerSounds to me like you may be a messy cook(Sorry) You need to get the food burned off, and then keep the outsides of pans clean while you cook, and cook a little slower to avoid boil overs.
