Question:

Is it safe to use power cables when they're would up in a coil?

HiI'm organizing my cords at the moment, but I'm curious, is it safe to use power cords (say a phone charger) when it is still wound up in a coil? It would save a lot of cord clutter, but are there any drawbacks, as in it would start a fire? Thanks

Answer:

there is no danger coiling cords.dont fold the cord or you could break the wire
There is no problem coiling the short cords that come with most devices. There isn't enough current to create a lot of heat. But don't leave long extension cords coiled up when you use them. The induction of the coil can limit the power to whatever is plugged into the cord. This can cause the device to overheat and burn out but it usually won't damage the cord.
