Question:

is it the motherboard or my keyboard?

hello today i just cleaned up my computer i remove every wire for safety however when i plug everything as usual my keyboard is not working its (PS/2 type) when i replug the keyboard the light is blink for once and then nothing happen i tried my other keyboard (PS/2) still the same right now am using USB keyboard

Answer:

Be sure you plugged the keyboard into the correct port. The PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports are mechanically identical but the keyboard will not work plugged into the mouse port. This is a very easy mistake to make.
PS/2 keyboards are definitely not hot plug-able. In fact, you can blow the PS/2 port or the keyboard itself by plugging it in while the power is on. In this case, the PS/2 port may have been damaged.
Easy. Restart your computer. PS/2 connectors aren't hot-pluggable like USB. You have to restart to rerecognize the keyboard.
Simplest thing to do is to make sure you are plugging it into the 'keyboard' PS/2 socket and NOT the mouse one. I have done this many times and know that it does not work. OTOH, you do have a working USB keyboard anyway Uplug your box and blow forcefully into the PS/2 socket as there may be dust in there. You might try compressed air as well. It does happen that sometimes the keyboard controller shorts out when it gets unplugged after several years of having power running through it. OTOH, you do have a working USB keyboard anyway Test your keyboards on another box to determine if they have failed or not. I have never run into a hardware tester for them. If they do indeed work, I would say your keyboard controller has died. OTOH, you do have a working USB keyboard anyway Good luck.
