On wide rounded speed bumps, I lift my weight off the saddle making sure my elbows and knees are bent. Let your elbows and knees be shock absorbers. On the more abrupt narrow speed bumps I merely bunny hop over the speed bump. (yes, virginia, you can bunny hop on a road bike, MTB, comfort bike, hybrid bike as well as bmx.)
