Question:

Is there a difference between copper and cupric?

Is there a difference between copper and cupric when dealing with reactions? I have to write out the decomposition of CUPRIC Sulfate pentahydrate, would this be the same as the decomposition of COPPER Sulfate pentahydrate?

Answer:

Copper exists with two valencies. Copper (I) - Cuprous. Copper (II) - Cupric. (I) -> having one valency (II) -> having two valencies So, This might not be same.
