is there any difference between couch and sofa?
sofa starts with letter s and couch starts with letter c
I do not know if this is the official difference, but at my parents, a sofa is a 3 seater while a couch is a 2 seater. Perhaps its just my parents using it this way...
No. The term 'couch' is used in North America, Australia (most commonly known as a lounge), New Zealand, and sometimes the United Kingdom. Other terms synonymous with the above definition of couch are sofa (derived from the Arabic word suffah), settee and canapé.
Yes. A couch is something that you're supposed to lie on, like a fainting couch or the couch Sigmund Freud had in his office for his patients to lie on while they were psychoanalyzed. A sofa is the proper name for the piece of living room furniture. A sofa typically has more than one seat cushion and seats three or four people. A similar piece of furniture is the settee, which is like a sofa, but is smaller and only has one long cushion.
