limes should work, too. What makes lemons work is the acidity, and since limes also have high acidity, they should do the trick! Just remember that lemons will dry out your hair so it's important to use a good conditioner when you wash your hair afterwards.
Limes have the same citric acid, but I don't think it will necessarily be successful in getting the color you want. Test on an inconspicuous lock of hair first. Don't spend too long in the sun, remember the other, unwanted, effects it has on your skin. It is probably safer to go and ask a skilled hair stylist who can assess your hair and give you an appropriate bleaching treatment. There's a lot of art in hair coloring.
