If so I'd like to know what it could be.

I have to admit it is rather odd that you want to breed for service dogs for your family. I think there may be more going on here than you will admit. First of all, why doesn't your family go to a breeder who does breed service dogs? Second, who is going to do the service dog training? Are you certified to do it? Do you know that the dogs will not be ready to go to their service homes for quite some time? If you really want shelties for service dogs, why don't you investigate some of the sheltie rescue groups who have many young dogs that would be perfect for this occupation, as they have passed their hyper puppyhood? Something smells here. Please get your sheltie spayed, and ask your relatives to get their pets from good breeders or a shelter.
Although I can answer with the numbers quoted, I am old enough to have been in this Rotor. The walls are covered in rubber sheet because the coefficient of steel on clothing is never anywhere near as high as you suggest. Otherwise we couldn't have slides in a playground. a w^2 R and for the object to stick the contripetal acceleration * minimum coefficient g ie a * 0.62 9.8 at the point of breaking loose a 9.8 / 0.62 15.8 m/s^2 now w^2 R 15.8 w ^2 15.8 / R w sqrt(15.8/R) sqrt(15.8/2.6) 2.47 radians per second. now w 2 pi f so f w / ( 2 * pi) and f is the turns per second. hence rpm 60 f 60 * w / (2 * pi() ) 24 rpm One more thing. The sliding friction cannot be so low. The reason is that once the rotor starts to slow we cannot have people suddenly and rapidly sliding down and hurting themselves. The rubber produces a friction that increases with speed so that at some low and safe terminal speed the people slid gently to the floor below. And I do miss the ride too! Maybe I am also old fashioned?
