Question:

Is there anything that can attract stainless steel?

Is there anything that can attract stainless steel?

Answer:

There are two kinds of solid structure of iron, one is face centered cubic, which is called austenite, and the other is body centered cubic. It is called ferrite. Ordinary steel is ferrite at room temperature and can be attracted by magnets.
There are many kinds of stainless steel, the most common are chromium and nickel austenitic stainless steel, such as 0Cr18Ni9, containing 18% chromium and 9% nickel, the magnetic properties of this stainless steel is very weak. Chromium stainless steel without nickel or nickel is generally martensitic stainless steel, such as Cr12, they are magnetic, and corrosion resistance is not as good as austenitic stainless steel. In recent years, due to nickel prices soaring, so some bad shoddy manufacturers with martensitic stainless steel instead of austenitic stainless steel, therefore, can carry a Nd-Fe-B magnet to check stainless steel, can absorb the stainless steel is certainly not good.
