Question:

Is this behavior unhealthy/dangerous for my cat and/or how can I stop it?

My cat is about a year oldShe was a strayShe's been with me since OctoberShe had roundworms when we first brought her in, but she's healthy now and hasn't been outside since being treatedLately, she has been biting off pieces from papersI'm not sure if she swallows themI see her bite them off and chew them.I've also seen her chew on bits of aluminum foilToday she also bit off a piece of my chair at my desk (a folding chair with a quot;pleatherquot; seat and top on the back part)When I see her do these things I yell at her, but she keeps doing itI also feel like she mostly does it when I'm around her.She has plenty of food and water, her litter box is clean, and she has toysI give her attention whenever I'm not doing homework or sleeping. Why is she doing this? Is it dngerous and could it hurt her? How can I stop it?

Answer:

She's restlessMy cat is three, she destroys my furnitureEating paper is fine, but you should be watchful of aluminum foil and pleatherThe easiest way to train a cat not to do things is by getting a squirt bottleLike a Windex bottle, but filled with waterOnly squirt her with water when she's doing something you don't likeNever play with her with the bottle, or it'll lose it's punishing valueBuy a laser pointer and play with herThose practically suck the energy out of my cat, and it's SO much fun watching her go nuts!
You can try Fray CheckIt comes in a bottle and runs under $5 Use just a bitYou may want to put it on a toothpick and just dot the holes with it
