Well probably b/c Cher has acknowledged her gay trans fans many times - as has Madonna. So people naturally then make an association. Maybe with Barbara Celine it's b/c of TV shows where a gay man has shown an interest and then, again, comes the association. Bottomline: stereotyping and what people see on TV by representatives of gay men bring about the assumption.
Inanimate objects cannot be gay because they do not have emotions or sexual attractions. And as far as I'm aware, track lighting is on its way out in terms of what's hot and what's not...if that helps....
