Half-Life 1 and 2 to me were masterpieces. It would be a shame if Valve ended the series there. Is Valve going to make Half-Life 3 in the near future ? If so, do you have any proof ?
Ok first of all you need to play Half-Life episode 1 and 2. Now to your question: The guys at valve only make games for the money and currently, they have enough. If they feel that they are running low on money, they will think of making one. Now the reason why they make other games and not HL3, is that at the HL2 episode 3, the storyline got complicated and making th continuation is hard and so, they don't even think of making it. So they just think of making another game and getting lots of money. For example, Counter-Strike Global Offensive. Its the same game, only with better graphics, new models, some new maps and... but its still the same Counter-Strike we played before. And people fall for it! Most people these days don't really care about the storyline, gameplay and stuff, they only care if its new or has good graphics. So by making games like that, or the source ones, they get the money they want without even thinking about Half-Life 3.
Sorry VALVE can't count to 3, it's a shame really...
Half life two- episode 2 is the number 3. Valve has never had a number 3s. 2 Gerry's mods, 2 l4ds, 2 portals...
confident there will be. it may be episode 3 or 0.5 existence 3 yet confident there will be. there is not any way in hell Valve could backtrack from that interest. They understand for a reality that they could make a killing off that interest and that i think of via fact of this they're retaining it one in all those super secret so whilst the time includes launch the great international will bypass nuts.
Valve is currently working on the next iteration of the Source engine, and when they finally finish development of that, then I think we can start seeing a newer generation of games from Valve that hopefully includes HL3.
