I just got these 2 speakers, my grandmother passed away a few months ago, and I just got these 2 speakers she had in her den. Idk what it was hooked up to. It is a Soundesign Model 633 two way speaker. I really don't know much about this kind of stuff, all i know it that the plugs go into RCA ports. They dont have any specific color on them either, I tried hooking it up to the RCA ports on the back of my HDTV but nothing happened. What do I hook this damn thing up to to make them work?
They need to be connected to speaker outputs. If your HDTV has speaker level outputs designed to connect to speakers, then you can connect them directly. Chances are it doesn't though, (the TV probably has only line level outputs designed to connect to other electronics, not speakers) so you'll need a stereo or surround sound receiver to power the speakers.
Old speakers use rca jacks for connection to the receiver. New receivers output terminal for speakers are for bare wires connection. Remove the rca jacks at then end of the speaker and connect it to your speaker out put terminals.
