Question:

keeping a brand new tile shower from cleaning nightmares?

I keep hearing that tile showers are a real chore to keep clean. I bought some tile sealer, and grout sealer. Will this help out significantly? How often should I reapply? Any other tips I should know about while it‘s still a virgin shower before it‘s too late?

Answer:

Sealed tile is not bad to care for. Even the cheap shower spray after every use will make weekly scrubbing easy.
I can say I sealed my grout with a aerosol spray grout and it worked great. Make sure you do it twice.
I have a friend who after anyone showers they take a squeegee and they wipe off the water on the tile wall lining the shower. now they might just grout their shower or clean it a lot but whenever i am over and i see the shower it is very clean.
not tough at all. Sealer will help some but the tile are not really that difficult to care for. I use scrubbing bubbles and if the grout gets dark I use softscrub with bleach and the edge of a folded scotchbrite pad
You should have a glaze on the tiles , which won t need a sealer at all, If it is a glazed ceramic, who ever sold a tile sealer should be shot lol. All you need is a penetrating sealer for your grout and develop good after shower habits of wiping of the water down as the others have suggested. This helps prevent water spots and mineral s from forming on the tile. If you have a very shiny tile this is even more important for water spots from showing. You still can t get away from an occasional cleaning though( SORRY lol) A good sealer, w/ 2 coats will last up to 25 years, although I have 2nd thoughts on that . But once you see how easy it is to do, you wont mind doing it every other year or so .. GL
