thee is so much talk about kirby vacuum cleaners ,are they that good?anyway i want to test one and looking for one to purchase onlinewhere can i look?
Kirby's are good but they are big and bulky. Shark makes EXCELLENT vacuum cleaners.
Had one about 16 yrs. No complaints, but it is pricy. Bags pricy. Carpet shampoo works, other brands of shampoo not recommended (work poorly). Reliable, wife likes the self propelled option on single level house. Wouldn't want to push it around house without self propelling, which requires adjusting every few years. Buy one, will last a lifetime, I think. Try to get price down to $700-800. Salesmen will dicker w/you.
I have a kirby and love it, i have all the scrubing tools etc and Never have a problem with it, I gave up on the cheaper Vacs a few yrs ago, always losing power and something. The next best is the Dyson................you can go on line to check them out or to a store in your area that sells them.
We bought a used '94 Kirby in 1996. We paid $400. for it. I like the powerful suction, but it also comes with drawbacks. The following are my opinions about this Kirby: 1. I don't like the cost of replacing the filters (they're about $8. a bag and only have 3 bags in a package. 2. It's not easy to change from vacuum to using the hose. 3. It's kind of heavy and bulky and doesn't maneuver easily. In my opinion, it's not worth it. You can purchase a bagless Dyson for around $500. and they work great. Does the $1800. price include all of the attachments? Do you need all those attachments? Are all the bells whistles worth $1800.?
I've had my Kirby for 16yrs. It has never been re-built. Sure it's heavy and bulky but that's for a reason its a good vacuum. I don't know about the newer models but my G3 takes a licking and keeps on ticking.=)
