I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on how to make quot;kiwi lime shrimpquot;. I had some at the Melting Pot and was wondering how I could produce something similar at home. I am no cook, and the thought of trying to combine kiwi and shrimp is a little intimidating! I have searched the internet a bit, but it seems most people use the kiwi as a relish or salad on the side. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Lime as in the mineral, or lime as in the fruit? The mineral lime is alkali, while lime fruit is acidic. If you treat DNA with either of these, it will be chemically attacked (either alakline hydrolysis or acid hydrolysis, respectively). That said, DNA is pretty robust - not very reactive - and is quite resistant to either. If you are talking about drinking lime juice, then I think you're fine ;-) The cells of your stomach and intestines are constantly being replaced, because they are in a hostile environment, and are therefore regularly being damaged.
