Question:

Laptop Screen Cleaning Help?

What can I use to clean the dirt/dust off of my laptop screen? Preferably something that can be found around the house and not a special product made especially for laptop screens.

Answer:

You should never use an electric blanket. You are sleeping under an electric field that is bad for you!
Any micro-fiber cloth such as glass cleaning cloth or lens cleaning cloth and a _little_ water. That's all you really need to clean a screen.
Microfiber cloths work great! Dampen one side and wring the water out really well. Wipe it over the screen and then dry with the dry half of the cloth. If you don't have one of these cloths, you should buy one. They come in very handy for cleaning all kinds of things.
Do not use ANY alcohol, ammonia, or other strong solvents on LCD screens. It could strip the coatings. Windex is old outdated info.Cloth – Only use a 100%-cotton cloth that is soft and absorbent, either an old T-shirt, sock, or Turkish towel. Make sure you’re not using a cotton/polyester blend that contains stiff filaments which can scratch an LCD’s surface. Avoid paper towels since some could have particles of wood. Use plain water and maybe a tiny bit of dish soap. Never spray the screen - only the cloth. A little vinegar and water may work also.
