Can a leaking car tyre valve be repaired/ replaced, or is it more viable to get a new tyre fitted with a new valve?
The actual valve can be unscrewed from the valve stem and replaced. If t's the valve stem that needs replacing this is done from inside the wheel/tyre combination. It may be possible to deflate the tyre, push one side inwards off the rim and get to the valve stem, but it's a lot easier to take it to a tyre depot and have it done properly. The real difficulty with a DIY job is getting the tyre sealed on the rim again. With an air line it's easy to put air in fast enough to reseat the tyre, with a foot pump it's almost impossible
you can take the old valve out and put a new 1 in. auto zone sells new valves.
you just need the valve itself changed...its nothing to do with the tyre as the valve is bolted to the wheel not the tyre...
That's spelled Tire Valve. It takes about 30 seconds to replace the valve core stem in the tire valve. Most any shop can do it, or pick up a Valve stem tool and spare stems at your local Auto Parts Store. Most are around $5 total. Many tire shops would do this free or just a few dollars without ever taking the car inside.
Valve stems can be easily replaced by any tire shop, for a relatively small amount of money. A new tire isn't needed, unless it was driven on with very low pressure. The tire shop can determine if there's any damage; it will have a black rubber powder inside the tire if it is damaged.
