what's the difference between incandescent and flourescent lights?
incandescent lights are the ones the tungstun filiment inside inside. IF your wanting to know the differences of one vs the other in the tank. incandescent bulbs are really no longer used in practicle fish keeping. They use more energy in the form of heat than light. Flourescents run much cooler, have a far more efficient light, both in energy to light conversion and the ability to maintain healthy live plants.
Incandescent lights generate a lot of heat,making temperature control difficult. If you have some of the old fixtures try using the screw in twisted fluorescent ones. They work just fine.
