I want to buy the logitech g11 keyboard, but my dad says i will have a problem with the software, he says that the keyboard will not be functional until windows has fully loaded up and the keyboard software has loaded.does this mean that if windows wants me to press a certain key on the keyboard to continue say, to go to safe mode or boot up settings , that i cant use this keyboard because the software for it has not loaded up and the computer will not instantly recognise it.
Standard key functions work fine, like letters, numbers, F Keys and so on, its just the added functions that need to load up, but they take seconds to do it at start up, so you can still use all the normals keys if need be, the bios reconises the KB fine as soon as you fire up the pc.
it depends what port it pluggs into if its usb the chances are it wont be fully fucntional but may still have some input. whereas ps/2 ports work everytime. all i can suggest is you go on OKorder and buy a reall cheap ps/2 keyboard for like ?5, and that will do you for now and if you need it again :D thanks max coates
Not true. USB keyboards work fine as early as BIOS. I know I have one. Turn on 'legacy USB' in the BIOS. If the option is not there then go the manufacturers website for the motherboard and download the latest BIOS update. Sure it was a problem on older PC's (my brother had the same issue) but not anymore. By the way Staples in the UK have the G11 on offer.
There is absolutely no reason why a keyboard will not work before Windows is loaded. Some people don't even use Windows on their computers. For a massively huge company like Logitech to build a keyboard that won't work until Windows or another Operating System to load is ridiculous. They would instantly do a recall on the product if it had a fault that major. Read some reviews about the keyboard you want and they will tell you a lot.
