Question:

Magnetic susceptibility?

Hi guys I would like to ask abt magnetic susceptibility. By definition it is an extent of magnetization of material. So higher value, the material more able to be magnetized?

Answer:

See, magnetic permeability 1+ Xm , Xm magnetic susceptability For diamagnetic materials, Xm0 and for paramagnetic materials Xm0 and for ferromagnetic materials Xm0 and it has very high value So as Xm increases extent of magnetisation also increases.
In electromagnetism, the magnetic susceptibility chi (latin: susceptibilis “receptiveness”) is a dimensionless proportionality constant that indicates the degree of magnetization of a material in response to an applied magnetic field.
