Clothes - the smell of you is comforting and the pile of clothes is soft. Cats feel most secure when they are up high off the ground and out of harms way. Again, it's comforting to them.
Rather than glue, you would want an epoxy, if an adhesive is what you choose to use. The original JB Weld will withstand a constant temperature of up to 500 degrees (F) with a maximum temp of 600 (F). Once it has fully cured, it is nontoxic. What this means is that you would have to take the part that needs repair to a safe work area, in order to fix it. That's going to be true of any any adhesive that will withstand the temperatures of a heat lamp. Your other choice would be a 'mechanical' fix, i.e. using a fastener of some type, such as sheet metal screws, or bolts. I would recommend a brace across the backside, to run the fasteners into or through. You can find this at your local hardware store, it could be a piece of flat steel with holes already in place. This piece of sheetmetal is there to disperse the heat from the lamp fixture, so that it does not damage any exposed wiring, or building materials, etc. You could simply slip a new piece on top of the original, and screw them together. Cut a new piece of stock with a groove to the center that is wide enough to slip over the electrical, and set it in place so that groove is located over the original sheetmetal heat shield, and fasten it in place.
