MAJOR STOICHIOMETRY HELP!?

can someone pleaseeeeee explain to me how to do stoichiometry,i really have no idea what to do.like if i have this problem. How many grams of copper are required to replace 4.0g of silver nitrate which is dissolved in water?Cu(s) + AgNO3(sq) -gt; Cu(NO3)2(aq) + Ag(s)PLEASE HELP ME

Answer:

Stoic is all about unit canceling. You use conversion factors (moles - grams, mole ratios, etc) to convert things. 4g AgNO3 x (1mol AgNO3/[Grams per mole AgNO3]) x (1mol Cu/1mol AgNO3) x ([grams per mols Cu]/1 mol Cu) grams Copper the grams per mole are from the periodic table mass numbers, add up all the elements' numbers in the compound and all. That all you have to plug in and solve, really. It makes more sense on paper when you can have horizontal division bars instead of diagonals, but w/e.
