Question:

Marine Electrical Wiring?

How are marine electrical wiring for boats and ships differ from that for land based buildings?

Answer:

ABYC standard is tinned stranded copper conductor, with crimped, or crimped and soldered (but not solely soldered), connections (no wire nuts, ever). It's a higher standard than for land-based wiring because of the corrosive environment and the shock and vibration that comes with operating a boat. At the point of connection, a soldered joint is equivalent to a solid conductor joined to a stranded conductor, and it will be weakened by vibration. there are other differences but that's all I feel like typing right now.
the positive and negative colors are diferant plus there are differant colors for differant things like the bilge.horn, lights, tach and so on plus a good marine wire is tin coated for use in salt water
