Question:

MATHHHH HELLPPPPPP!!!!!?

My Grandpa's home has a coal bin in the basement. The dimensions are 7' by 10' by 6'. If a ton of coal occupied 35 cubic feet of space, how many tons could Grandpa's bin hold when it was full to the top?A:6B: 12C: 16D: 22Jack was hired by a farmer to paint the silo on his farm. He only had to paint the curved surface (the cylindrical tube). Each gallon of paint he was using would cover 300 square feet. If the silo had a diameter of 28 feet and was 42 feet high, how many gallons of paint would Jack need to complete the job?A:11B:13C:15D:31THank you so much for helping me in advance. I am not lazy its just that my teacher gave us a huge packet and its worth a lot of points. and he said feel free to ask questions if you want. BUt he left early s icouldnt ask him questions. thank you

Answer:

1) ANS -- B) 420/35 = 12 2) ANS -- B) 2*pie*14*42/300 ~ 13......(actually 12.3)
The first is 12. For the second I don't remember exactly how but you have to find the circumfrence using the diameter and multiply it by the height. Then divide by 300
My Grandpa's home has a coal bin in the basement. The dimensions are 7' by 10' by 6'. If a ton of coal occupied 35 cubic feet of space, how many tons could Grandpa's bin hold when it was full to the top? ----------------------- 420 is the total volume. if 12 occupies 35. than you can simply just do 12/35=x/420 x=144. Jack was hired by a farmer to paint the silo on his farm. He only had to paint the curved surface (the cylindrical tube). Each gallon of paint he was using would cover 300 square feet. If the silo had a diameter of 28 feet and was 42 feet high, how many gallons of paint would Jack need to complete the job? ------------- the curve surface area can be find by 2pi*R*H= 1176 1176/300=3.92 ~David
Looks like your friend had a question about the first one. Its B
