Question:

Metal in appliances and other objects?

My mom and I pick up bulk items and quot;trashquot; to take to a metal scrap yardCertain types of metal bring us more cash than others (copper, brass, aluminum, and stainless steel)In what items can I find them? (Fridges, ovens, washers, dryers, old, new???) Our city has one day a month when they provide bulk pick up to allow people to throw out these kinds of large items for trash pick up, and that is when we make our roundsYou'd be surprised at what people set outside on the curbTell me what to look for. Thanks in advance!!!

Answer:

Yes - that's why it is called 'the bridge' - It is on the bridge (or cross over section at a high visibility point of the shipOne of it's primary purposes is to see whats going on around you.
Helm stations can be almost anywhere on a boat or yachtOn big sportfishers you might find three helm stations and even controls near the transomMost often the bridge is up high, off the main deck to give the best visibilityWith that being said you could find a helm station above the main bridge or even one on each side of the boat to make coming to dock easier.
On nearly all merchant vessels the navigation bridge is on the forred end of the accommodation block and at the highest pointThe positioning is to allow the maximum field of view for the ships watch keeping officers and lookoutsOn pasenger ships it will be forred but may be either the uppermost deck or one deck below that, rarely, if ever will it be lowerIn days gone by on sailing ships and on the very early steamers the bridge or watch keeping deck was on the main deck and the duty offier could be keeping his watch in the region of the main mast and steering wheelThe bridge on a naval vessel can be at various heights but is usually forred.
The bridge of a ship can be located in various locationsSome ships like a few cruise ships have the bridge located on one of the floors in a secure location toward the bow of the shipThis allows the bridge crew to have a 180 degree view - port to starboardOther ships also cruise ships have the bridge on an upper deck above all the passenger areasThis allows them to have 360 degree views and more space to do what they need to do without interfering with passengersI enjoyed being on a few NCL ships where the bridge was just below the most forward loungeIt has a section in this lounge where you can look below through special glass and see the control panels, compass, ships speed, etcNot many ships today have this feature with the post 9-11 world we live inI hope this answers your questions Good Luck.
