Question:

Metal or plastic that is very flexible/bendable?

You know those things like tents that are folded up really small in a case then you take it out and it instantly pops up into shape?? Well I need to make something that will instantly pop open into shape and that I can collapse really small when not in useBut I don't know what the name of that flexible metal/plastic stuff is called or where to get itAny help would be great thank you so much!!

Answer:

This is not any one material, but a construction and assembly of different products The main part is fabric, just as in tentsThe choice of fabric has more to do with its durability and weather resistance, and has little or nothing to do with the shape-poppingThe popping into shape is usually caused by fiberglass ( or sometimes in smaller objects, spring-steel) rods that slide into a sleeve, sewn into the perimeter of the fabric. The rods have a tension on them, and can be compressed in one direction, then released in anotherThe fabric never lets them expand to their fullest, which keeps tension on the shapeLead will never pop into shapeIt is the metal with the least amount of spring, and aluminum is not far behind.
