I just got my braces yesterday, and today, when i woke up, i found that one of the brackets on my molar fell off. It's still in it's place, just rotating on the wire. My orthodontist is closed today. What should I do? Can I eat today? Can I brush my teeth? Most of all, will this make my teeth more crooked on the bottom? and what if the bracket falls completely off of the wire? Tell me everything I need to know! Thank you!
No worries, this is really common! Of course you can eat, just avoid chewing on that side of your mouth, and be gentle when brushing your teeth in that spot, maybe skip the electric toothbrush today when you brush. And, no, it won't affect your teeth at all, because your orthodontist can easily fix it back into place, and your teeth will still straighten beautifully! This used to happen to me allllllllll the time when I had braces, and my teeth came out perfectly straight!
Is it possible you grind your teeth while sleeping? Today is Friday so my Ortho is closed, and my back bracket came off too. I've also had a cavity filled there. And I just started rubber bands, which I now can't wear since my very back bracket came off
first offum Melting Point, quote Sometimes back brackets aren't necessary) are you a dental professional? Anyways, you should be fine. Leave a message at your ortho's office, explaining what happened. The reason it probably fell off was because they probably didn't put the light to dry the glue completely, and if they did, not long enough. It alright, just eat soup and softer foods, and don't worry about it. Call again when they are open, and let them know you need to book an emergency appointment. No biggie ) Just calm down, and relaxthis is no unusual orthodontic emergency
if it came off that easy, it was whoever put on the brackets fault for not doing it properly (i had the same problem with my band). if it's hurting/bothering you really bad, i'd try to wait it out until the office is open again. if its really really really horrible, you can go to the hospital and they'll remove the bracket. i would say you could eat and brush your teeth, but be very careful the bracket doesn't pop off and you swallow it. don't mess with it too much. if you just got your braces on, the missing bracket shouldn't make too much of a difference. it won't make that tooth crooked, instead that tooth just won't fix itself like the others. once you get it fixed, though, that tooth should catch up pretty fast. the actual movement of the teeth doesn't take long. the re-rooting is what makes it take forever. hope that helps?
Yes, you should still eat and brush your teeth. Because the brackets on one of the back molars you shouldn't worry about it too much, just go about your day, try not to mess with it and if it falls off completely that's fine (they're probably going to have to replace it anyway. Either that or they'll leave it off. Sometimes back brackets aren't necessary) and just make an appointment as soon as they can get you in. In the meantime, don't panic, it'll be fine )
