Oh Honda_guy i need ya again.or anyone who knows about the 98 honda accord, 6 cyl, ex. It was at least 26 degrees last night and my son woke me up to this alarming sound outside which seemed to be my horn/alarm just sounding off like some kind of siren. I didnt know what to do I thought someone was breaking in. Anyway, I took the battery apart and it stopped. I tried to put the key and turning thing and it didnt work at all. When I put my battery back on, will it sound off again? Thanks for all of your answers.
Your alarm could cause your auto not start, some alarms will have to be deactivated before they will let you start your auto ! But that is good, no one should be able to steal your auto !
its not unusual for things to contract in very cold weather and for contacts in circuits to break contact. Here's what probably happened--when the temperature dropped the metal in the car contracts ever so slightly. the alarm system works off of switches on the doors, the hood and the trunk lid. when it gets cold, the gap between the switches and the car metal increases. any kind of vibration such as that from a truck or another car going by can cause the switch to move and set off the alarm. iThe alarm shut off when you disconnected the because there is no power to the horn. Usually you have to shut the alarm off to stop it. so if you connect the battery and the alarm is going off, then use the remote for your alarm to shut it off, or if its a non-honda alarm, use the switch inside the car. On the honda alarms, the keyless entry alarm is turned off by unlocking the doors with the remote. I would suggest you do this--open the hood so that you can get to the battery. then lock the car doors with the key. connect the battery. if the horn sounds, use the remote to open the doors and re-lock them. that should arm the alarm and stop it from sounding. then use the remote to open the doors. if that doesn't work, then its not a honda alarm and you'll have to find the switch inside the car to turn it off. hope that helps
if it sounds again turn on your engine and press this red button near the steering column near the pedals it should stop the alarm
