Question:

My car alarm went off and someone left a note on the windshield?

My car alarm only went off for 15 min, but someone left a note on my car asking it be turned off? Why?It was an accident. I got it turned off as soon as I could. Why are people so impatient? It‘s not like it was going off at night or for a very long time. What if my alarm accidentally goes off again? Do I need to be concerned that this person will do something to my car? Advise please.

Answer:

That happened down the street a few weeks ago near me. 15 minutes is a long time for an alarm to be going off. it doesn't go off automatically. If i were you, id be happy they didn't do anything to it yet. Its a very aggravating thing to hear. Id rather put up with a baby crying.
It depends on the state, the area, etc. For example, what if a person works second shift and needed to sleep during the day. The reality is that most states have laws limiting alarms. They can only stay on for a short period of time, like 1 minute for a car. Buildings get longer time. But after the first alarm, you start getting bills for several hundred dollars for each false alarm. Alarms come with a timer, so set it shorter. You don't need 15 minutes. Any thief will leave in the first 5 seconds of the alarm going off, under the assumption the owner will be there shortly. You do not have the legal right to have a loud alarm go off any way you want. You have to follow the laws of your state.
don't worry about it, it's YOUR car. Probably just some bored person with nothing better to do than write notes and leave them on other peoples cars.
