So I have a family of cats. We found a pregnant cat 2 years ago, and she had 3 boys, so we have mommy and her boys. We also have a foster cat for a local shelter. Our litter boxes are located in our master closet, which is attached to our master bath. Fluff, her youngest son, has decided to start peeing in the sink. But ONLY after I've emptied the litter box. It's always the same sink, there's no blood in his urine, and he doesn't strain to urinate, or show any other signs of a UTI. Is he just pissed off because of all the cats? This is only a recent problem, but we've had plenty of other foster cats, and they've always gotten along. Its the only other thing I could think of. He was neutered at 6 months old too. (he's now 2)
Here are some ideas that worked for us when our cat peed in the bath: Put a litter box out of the closet. Stay in the Bathroom all day if you can and when he comes in, place him on the kitty litter quickly and hold his back down until he's peed Cover up the sink with a hard piece of plastic If he pees in the sink before you clean it up take him to the sink and yell at him while pointing at the sink (this can work) Some cats just don't train.
Its the need to stay clean. Even cat litter is offensive to odd cats here and there and sometimes although they poop in it, peeing just doesn't seem to work for them in litter as pee splashes the legs, even on sand or wood chip pellets. The sink is clean, smooth and as he pees it runs away down the drain. Simple, and so much easier than getting your paws wet and dusty covering it over. However, if its a bathroom sink then its not ideal washing your face in a sink a cat has peed in, so either cover the sink when not in use till he drops the habit, or go a step further and toilet train him. Go to Pet smart, or Pets at Home depending on where you are, and get a plastic cat toilet plate. It fits snug on the toilet bowl and the cat poos and pees directly into the lav without litter or boxes. In his case, fit it over the sink and line the sink with newspaper in case he actually does start pooping in it, then once he's got the grasp, then move the plate to the loo, and cover the sink. Once he catches on, he will poop, pee and sometimes even throw up down the loo and you just flush it away. Some cats can even learn to flush the toilet after doing it.
Well, Is isn't your kitchen sink, which would be much worse. Our cat will pee over the shower outlet or the bath. Maybe it is just me but I don't have a problem with that. I just clean them after. It is more hygenic than the stink of a litter box. Or peeing on the carpet etc.
final year my alluring Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and in no way got here lower back. i admire cats and the homestead did no longer experience an identical with out one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She replaced into very worried and might pee all around the homestead. i found Cat Spraying No More??? on the internet and the concepts worked only approximately on the instant. i haven't had a difficulty with Lola when you consider that. staggering! can not provide up your cat peeing interior the homestead? Then undertaking not greater...
If okorder /X-Mat-Extra-Traini... How many litter boxes do you have? You should have 1.5 times the number of cats in your home, and they should be in different locations. According to cat behaviorist Pamela Johnson-Bennett, litter boxes that are next to each other count as one box. He may not like to poop and pee in the same box, which is very common. He may not especially like the location of the boxes. There are a lot of things you can try. Good luck!
