Question:

My gas boiler is leaking water in the heater core is there any way to fix this?

It is Aruba-ex boiler and the rods that hold the pieces of the heater core is rusted and broken. Then water began through one of the joints.

Answer:

It's not worth it. I would replace the unit. It's a expensive repair and it sounds as if it's a very old unit. If you do repair it it's going to nickel and dime you. It's time to replace it
there is no packing around the purple knob on gas water warmers, this is an O ring seal and if this is leaking this isn't any good. the full valve/thermostat assembly, (the enormous gray container), needs to get replaced. this is no longer a complicated interest, in basic terms severe priced. The valve assembly will fee around $one hundred eighty - $230 finding on no count if this is organic or LP gas. in case you want to do it your self, you will might desire to empty the unit, disconnect the three tubes coming off the backside, and unscrew the valve from the edge of the water tank. Reinstall the recent valve, reconnect the tubes below, examine for gas leaks, fill the tank and fire it up.
Its not too difficult to fix since it is a cast iron sectional. The cast iron sectionals have a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger, but the warranties never cover labor, just parts. It is made by Crown Boilers, but, unfortunately, they use independent contractors, and most of them would rather sell you a new boiler than repair the old one because there is much more profit on a new install. Contact Crown and see who does their warranty work in your area.
