i have got a netgear router my self and it does the same thing, when the lights blink it actually means that it is connected and receiving data from the internet
unplug the modem for a couple of minutes and plug back in with the router still on, for some reason they always have you unplug the router from the modem for this step with the modem so it doesn t always reset. after trying everything possible from technical assistance on the phone, I ran across this solution and thought it was worth a try. After doing it, the orange light was solid, then blinked for a couple of seconds, then went green and we were up and running again! Good luck!
