My two puppies always bite sofa, What can i do to avoid this? Any good ideas???
When you can't be there to supervise, use a crate. But only for 2 hours at a time, maximum. It's up to you to correct the behaviours you don't want - but good luck if you have two puppies at the same time, unless you are experienced! It's not a good idea to have two as they will tend to listen, follow, each other, rather than you. Prevention/avoidance is always the way forward and if they are getting at your sofa, remove dogs from sofa, or sofa from dogs. Problem solved.
Ah, puppies! Not to mention that sofas are nice and comfy and smell like you (and others), so that would be a great thing to bite and chew on, right? :) There is a great product called Grannick's Apple Bitter Spray that was developed by a pharmacist about 50 years ago; it's actually made from bitter apples, so it's all natural, but pups HATE the taste. You could spray it on your finger first and they will not like it. It's OK on fabric (spray on a hidden spot first in case you have a white sofa or something - I do... I bought it before the dog) and a quick spray where they like to bite/chew/nibble will give them a nasty taste when they do it again. I also used it on woodwork my dog liked and sneakers!
Crate when you can't watch. And a shaker can with pennies when you are there or a firm loud NO!
The only way to do that is to supervise them every single time they have the option to bite something you don't want them biting. If you can't supervise them, they need to be confined somewhere with appropriate things. A crate is best, since there are no walls or cabinet edges to tempt them. Confined in their crate with good toys, such as a chewing ball or other safe chews, their only option is to play with appropriate things. Confine them during their most active learning period, before they get a chance to form bad habits. Let them learn to enjoy their toys. here is the photo of resistant biting ball for you: bit.ly/sbpJxl
