i need to know if my wires are hooked up right
You didn't give us much to go on. There are at least 5 different color combinations in 10 conductor control wire I know of. There may be more that I've never used. Or your installer may have used two 5 conductor wires dropping of two for your T-stat.
you must have a heat pump then. Basically the terminal connections should be the same as how those wires are connected at the indoor air handler.If you did not note the colors and the terminals they were connected on the old stat then you may have to check the air handler.
Most thermostats have multiple wires because they can be set to control different kinds of systems. Check the manual to see which connections you need for your situation. If it can turn on your heater (and air conditioner if you have one), then it is connected properly.
