There is probably nothing wrong with the panSpringform pans are traditionally used for making cheesecakes where there is a crust placed first in the pan, baked and the the more liquid filling is placed in the panCheck to see if the top of the pan's two parts are fitted together properlyDouble check your recipe to make sure that a springform pan is the recommended pan for that particular cakeThere are some cake batters that are simply too thin to be placed in a springform panIf you are concerned about being able to get your cake out of a standard, non-springform pan once it is baked, try lining the standard pan with aluminum foilAny ridges in the cake that form from the seams in the foil will easily be covered by the frosting or icing you'll be using on the outside of the cake My best suggestion, if you still want to use the springform pan, would be to pull out a large enough sheet of Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil to cover and tightly seal the entire bottom of the pan making sure there aren't any seams in the foilI suggest heavy duty aluminum foil since regular aluminum foil might not be wide enough to cover the bottom of the pan without a seamI would also place the pan (now covered on the bottom with foil) on a cooling rack that has been placed on a baking sheet before putting it in the ovenThis will allow for better circulation of hot air.
