Question:

Need a way to make a copper 1 inch pipe in to an oval cylinder?

this what i have tried. i tried it repeated on a vise and put it in between to metal plates but the middle of the pipe warps and both sides have indentions on the side, like the side gets pushed in some howthen i tried using a floor jack and put it in between 2 2x4 trex deckin and put it under my truck and raised the jack and it still folds in the middle.then i tried fillin the inside pipe with foam and pressed it and it didnt warp as much but still didim triying to make an oval piston for a project im working on but im having issues with the pipe warping. it would evan be fine if it was flat on the inside but i dont know how to not warp the middle section.any help?

Answer:

I don't have quite enough info,as in oval piston for replica Honda Rc 45(?) engine , Any way you might be able to gradually form an oval between two rollers, made of steel . you must flatten tubing in steps, not all at once. I believe quality of tubing will affect outcome . 1. Feed tubing through rollers reducing distance between them by perhaps an eight of an inch at a time . 2. add at least 1 piston length to each end of tubing for best appearance and dimensional outcome. So start with at least 3 times the length of finished piece, Best of Luck, Ed
could be a torque converter problem, but the torque converter gone bad can be related to internal parts going bad and getting into the torque converter go to trusted local shop and have them look at it b/c you may have your transmission blow up on you and you will have a bigger bill
Have you tried buying shape you need? Google copper pipe sales. Also, I would try heat along with the methods previously tried. Remember copper transfers heat quickly so be gentle, also to much heat will cause anealing (brittleness). Try gentle heat on the narrow side of curves and squeeze slowly.
