I‘m not into physics nor chemistry. However, i got an idea to make a strong bullet proof jacket. The jacket has to be magnetic that carry e.g. - negative the bullet should be made to metal that has - (negative) too. The magnetic on both side should very strong, so when you put the + -, they get attracted very strongly. Thus, when - - meet, they get apart strongly. The result will be, whenever a person shoot on your body (chest - abdominal), the bullet will reach you. It will stop in some point and drop. In case, bullet reach your jacket. The hit will be very weak since the jacket resisted the bullet well.2. In case its hard to create a bullet that can interact with megnatics. Can‘t chemist invent like a grease cream/material that whenever you put it on a copper, the copper will work as a magnet until this cream is washed out.I don‘t know! this just an idea pops in my mind when i was playing with two magnetics
1. Why would the person shooting at you oblige you by creating a 'magnetic bullet' for your vest to repel? (He can't even if he wants to.) 2. Even if the did 'repel' the magnetic bullet, your body would still have to absorb all that impact energy.
You could stand to get more into physics and chemistry. If you had, you'd realize that this idea is impossible. First, nobody is going to be generous enough to fire bullets magnetized in the correct direction at you. They might even fire bullets magnetized in the wrong direction, so the bullet will be attracted to your suit instead of repelled. But much more likely is they will simply shoot you with nonmagnetic bullets. Second, the electrical system necessary to provide a strong enough magnetic field would weigh hundreds of pounds. A soldier could never carry it. Third, there is no cream that magically gives something the ability to be magnetized. That is just ridiculous.
Probably not a great idea. 1. The magnet won't be strong enough. If it were strong enough to repel a flying bullet, you would not be able to be around anything metal. Also, what makes you think the bullet would stop and drop on the ground? The bullet would stop and then reverse direction - go flying into some innocent bystander. 2. Even if you had a magnetic cream, the magnet would attract or repel the magnetic material in the cream. If you fired that copper bullet covered in magnetic cream at the magnet vest, it would repel the cream off of the bullet, but would not slow down the bullet much at all.
