Just do as much research as you can. You can and should use live rock to cycle your tank. Yes it is not cheap to set up a SW tank. So to buy a few things at a time is good. But don't expect to have it up and running till you get everything. You could set up the sand or coral with the filter and heater. If you get live sand that will help the tank cycle. Then buy some live rock a little at a time beause you will need 90-100lb . When you have the live rock you need to run a skimmer. Then add the other stuff fish always last you know.
So go sit on 1 with at least 1 foot flat on the floor. Bikes are great toys but lousy only transport.
You can't ride your bike in the rain, at least you don't really want to. However, in response to the not fitting 3 girls on a bike, You can fit 1 girl on your motorcyle and she'll be hugging onto you til you get to where ever you want to go. All in all, I agree with the others and would get a car first.
the process of cycling is the same for fresh as it is for salt, adding ammonia and waiting 4-6 weeks as usual. if you wanted to set SOMEthing up this weekend i would do a couple of pound of live rock and fill the tank with SW, get your cycle going. after the requisite 4-6 weeks (or whenever your ammonia and nitrite drop to zero) you could start stocking the tank and by then will have some more money and be that much more educated on the subject so basically fill the tank with saltwater set to an SG of about 1.023, if you don't already have one, buy a hydrometer or refractometer when you get your salt. if you have a store that makes premade saltwater, even better but you'll still need a hydrometer/refractometer buy either one or two 20-25 pound bags of dry aragonite (don't waste your money with live sand) and wash it out good under cold water stack up the rocks how you like them while the tank is sandless then fill in the sand around the rocks, this supports them and prevents any futrue cave-ins. fill the tank with water, turn on the filter and heater and let 'er cycle nope the sand just stays in there untill you decide to take it out for whatever reason (taking down tank, replacing with different color/grain size etc) for a 30 long i'd do about 40 pound (2 large bags, usually) 90-100 pound of live rock for a 30 gallon tank is almost retarded it's so much like 30-40 pounds tops
