Question:

no rear brake lights 87 toyota camry?

replaced light bulbs, fuses, brake pedal switch, still have no lights? how do you check the light failure relay? 87 toyota camry. park lights work, turn signals work.

Answer:

pry at the tabs on the relay cover and see if there is a burned spot inside on the circuit board. also check the trunk wires where they flex by the left trunk hinge---they break inside the taped harness. You can check the bulb socket power with a test light to help trace the open circuit down. It is probably just the brake wire that is broken and is real common. good luck
take it to a technician or a toyota dealer. The toyota dealer will know what to do.
have you ever repaired the cables ? or verify the terminal, it might desire to be short or coz the terminal grimy via oil or dirt ... straight forward way is verify the process cable specialy the terminal, reliable success
I recently had the same problem on my '88 Camry, no brake lights and the LIGHTS failure warning light on the instrument panel came on. I found the light failure relay up under the lip of the trunk opening on the driver's (left) side after I took out the trunk liner panel on that side. It was a small yellowish plastic box connected to a bundle of wires. I held the brake pedal down with a long stick propped against the seat and tapped on the relay the lights came on. Afterwards, I unplugged the wiring at the connector and slightly bent the male terminals so that they would make better electrical contact in the connector plug and then put everything back together...I haven't had the problem since.
