i usually ride my jet ski about 2-3 times a week and i wanted to see if it was ok to run it for about a few seconds when its out of the water after a ride becuase my neighbor told me its good to get the water out of the engine after the ride. tell me the odds and goods and what should i do?
Your neighbor is right - it is best to run the motor (only for a few seconds) out of the water - you will notice the water shoot out of the jet and exhaust. Once the water stops - which is usually after 2 revs of the engine turn it off. This is especially good to do in salt water, but I always do it just to get the excess water out
I think the best person to ask would be the manufacture, or more likely, the dealer where you bought your jet ski...
A two stroke jetski can and should run outside of the water for about 15 seconds to clear the jet of any remainig water. Just don't rev the engine too high.
i always run mine long enough to blow the water out of the pipe and waterbox. 15 to 30 seconds is plenty.
